The story
A 90-year-old woman in Fuzhou was hospitalized after a hip fracture. Her children had lived overseas for years. Her husband was nearly 90 and physically unable to take on ordinary bedside care.
The hospital used a no-family-companion care model. Care workers handled daily living support, escort staff accompanied examinations, rehabilitation began after surgery, and she was discharged about a week later.
The hospital solved one segment
That mattered. But for the overseas children, the family episode did not begin at admission or end at discharge. Someone still had to connect transportation, records, payment, family updates, mobility, rehab, medication, follow-up and the question of whether the elderly spouse could safely resume caregiving.
The hospital can close the hospital stay. The family still needs the whole family episode closed.
